Sam McCoy

“Squirrel Hunting” Sam McCoy is one of Randall’s sons. Sam got his nickname due to his extraordinary eyesight and accuracy. He’s claimed to have killed over 30,000 squirrels while out in the wilds. Sam loves the outdoors and would often sneak away from family duties to pursue his hunting and tracking.

After the feud began Sam came directly into conflict with Bill Staton which eventually ended up Staton’s death. The incident put Sam on the run. When he was eventually captured he went on trial in front of a Hatfield judge. While he was cleared and set free it proved to be a further wedge in the McCoy and Hatfield family feud.

Sam, despite his rebellious ways, stands behind his family. His skills as an outdoorsman have served Randall well in the continued conflict.
